Unmarshal Governance Model
During the first year of Unmarshal, developer effort was directed towards adding to our continually growing API suite, indexing newer chains, maintaining indexer nodes, and overall ensuring that the entire system is running smoothly. The focus was to set up a solid infrastructure and fine-tune our offerings.
Now that we have stabilized our infrastructure and added a significant list of APIs and chains, more time can be dedicated to building a truly decentralized, community-driven model.
A governance model holds many advantages in building the Unmarshal Network, the major one being that holders of $MARSH will now have the power to directly make growth decisions for Unmarshal.
“Our vision is to have a fully democratic, decentalized, community driven ecosystem by the end of 2022”
Apart from this, a few things to consider are
- It will encourage positive token utility as the voting and feature requests will require users to hold a certain amount of $MARSH, the mechanism of which we will delve further into, in this article.
- All holders of this minimum amount of $MARSH and above will have the same voting rights as their fellow peers, making this an unbiased, democratic system.

A Closer Look at Unmarshal Governance Portal
Here is an in-depth look at the framework we’ve created for requesting new features and voting.
Visit: governance.unmarshal.io
The dashboard has a wallet connect feature to detect the amount of $MARSH held, either in the wallet itself or a $MARSH staking contract. Both are considered and accepted for governance privileges.
Users can click Submit Request and add a title for the new feature that is being requested. A section is available to provide more details and description. Add supporting documents, images, or even videos.
Once the request is entered it is added to the waitlist for approval. During this time, viewers can upvote, downvote, and comment on the proposal submitted. When a proposal receives a minimum of 200 upvotes, it is approved for implementation.
When the team starts working to fulfil the request, it moves to the “in-progress” section.
Once the proposed development is complete, it is deployed and tracked under “Live!”.
